Hunan, Koramangala

Hunan, my savior! So, we all do know the run-of-the-mill Chinese joints such as Chung-wah, Beijing Bites and so on who I would place on the lower side of the graph - Not really expensive and fairly average food. Then, you have Mainland China which is higher up - fabulous tasting but expensive food. Somewhere in the middle lies Hunan. More expensive than the regular Chinese takeaways, but definitely more tasty and filled with that punch of flavours.

I've never been there though I do plan to visit for the Buffet some time soon, but this review is for the innumerable number of times we've ordered delivery so far; so often, their number is now on my Speed-Dial. They take about 45 mins or so to deliver, but the food has always been worth the wait.

So, the general orders for two are some Soup, A variety of Noodles, Fried Rice and a Gravy. After a lot of trials, my favourites are the Garlic & Chilly Fried Rice and the Exotic Vegetables in a Chilly Basil Sauce. Absolutely excellent, well-cooked veggies in that spicy, delightful sauce goes just perfectly with any main. Also, a special mention for the Noodles here - they are perfectly thin, yet firm, unlike the thicker ones in cheaper joints and yet not too thin like the more gourmet rice noodles texture.

For Delivery, the portions are perfectly sized. Some bits always end up going to the fridge, even after two hungry souls stuffing themselves to the full.

What I like about Hunan's delivery is how neat & clean everything is - All the food is packed in Aluminium packets and then put in Boxes and sent - rarely have I ever seen even a tiny drip in the cover. I generally hate how the soup or the gravies otherwise slips out in other deliveries! They also send you separate packets of salad, regular chilly sauce, chilly garlic sauce and even Kim Chee. It delights the Kim-chee lover in me, who used to think that these are frills I can only get on Dine-ins! They also send you some complimentary vegetarian wantons, which makes me a whole lot happier when I start opening up all the parcels.

All in all, I would definitely recommend the place for you to try if you're planning on Chinese Home Delivery. Do not categorize this as only a Dine-in place, they do a fabulous job at getting their great food home.
